St Nicholas’ is a Catholic Maintained Primary School catering for all pupils, regardless of faith background, providing the highest quality teaching and learning and overall school experience.
It was opened in 1910 as a separate boys and girls school. In 1992 the two schools were amalgamated. The new school was built in 1996 and was blessed and opened on the 19th March 1998 by the Most Reverend. Patrick Walsh D.D.
The school comprises eight classrooms, equipped with Interactive Whiteboard Technology and C2K computers, enhanced further by ICT and Personalised Learning Support Zones throughout the school.
Our caring ethos and attention to detail has earned us a reputation as a centre of lifelong learning and achievement, catering for Special Educational and Additional Needs as well as Newcomer pupils with English as an Additional Language.
We are a BECTA accredited centre of excellence in the delivery and use of ICT and have achieved our second NAACE Award. We have also invested heavily in iPad and Apple TV technology.
We believe the school to be a vital part of the local community.
We are firmly committed to providing a loving and caring atmosphere through our living Catholic ethos, whilst catering for, respecting and welcoming children from other denominations.
